Marino Villar Competes in Motocross Championship in Lugo
Marino Villar took part in the second race of the Spanish Elite Motocross Championship held at the “Motopark Lugo” circuit. The race was marked by poor weather conditions, causing numerous setbacks for the Marbella-born rider. Despite these challenges, Villar managed to score points in his fight for the championship.
Second Race of the Championship at “Motopark Lugo“
The “Motopark Lugo” circuit hosted the second race of the Spanish Elite Motocross Championship last weekend. The circuit is owned by MXGP World Champion, Jorge Prado, who also participated in the MX1 category.
Adverse Weather Conditions Force Schedule Changes
The adverse weather forecast for Sunday forced the entire competition to be moved to Saturday, completely altering the schedule and compressing the race. Despite being held on Saturday, the stormy weather hardly let up, and much of the race took place in rain and cold.
Challenging Race for Marino Villar
It was a tough race for Marino Villar, who had to face an unfamiliar circuit that was severely damaged by the rain and worsened with each round. In addition to the poor condition of the circuit, the Marbella-born rider suffered a great deal of setbacks during the race, including several falls and mechanical problems that plagued him until the end.
Villar’s Performance Amidst Setbacks
The race grid consisted of 34 riders, with Villar achieving the 12th best time to form the starting grid. In the first round, the young Marbella-born rider made a great start to place fifth, maintaining the position for several laps. However, he had to withdraw due to a mechanical issue, finishing in 32nd position.
Recovery and Final Position
After repairing his bike, Villar made a good start in the second round, placing tenth. Despite suffering a fall and getting tangled with another rider, he managed to recover and finish 13th. After a weekend marked by setbacks, Villar managed to enter the Top-15 of the provisional classification of the Spanish Championship, placing 14th.
