Marbella has admitted the project for Spain’s first Waldorf Astoria hotel to formal planning, according to the latest municipal announcement.
The proposal has been submitted by Higuerón Golf Resort and is intended to be developed in the municipality’s Las Chapas district. The admission to processing means the project can now move through the relevant planning and administrative stages. It is not, by itself, a final construction approval.
Waldorf Astoria is the luxury hotel brand of Hilton. If the project is completed, it would add a major international hospitality name to Marbella’s eastern side and could strengthen the area’s high-end tourism and events offer.
The announcement comes as Marbella continues to combine new tourism investment with wider planning changes under its recently approved municipal plan. For residents and businesses, the next important steps will be the detailed planning review, the conditions attached to the project and any later licences required before construction.
