Marbella’s Luxurious Dog Hotel

Marbella, a city known for its opulence, is now home to one of the world’s most extravagant dog hotels. This unique establishment offers a range of services including beach walks, relaxing baths, a spa, and even reiki treatments for your canine companion.

More Than Just a Pet

For many dog owners, their pets are considered as part of the family, often referred to as their ‘fur babies’. These owners treat their pets like royalty, and in Marbella, they can now provide them with a luxury experience at the Tiny Dog Hotel.

Behind the Tiny Dog Hotel

The Tiny Dog Hotel is the creation of a Dutch-Peruvian couple, Jose Antonio Canales and his wife, Antoinette. The idea was born over a decade ago when they needed a place for their chihuahua, Pancho, to stay while they were on holiday in Marbella. The couple then moved to Spain to establish their business, which included installing air conditioning, securing their terrace, and setting up security cameras.

Luxury Services for Dogs

For a fee of just €24.50 per night, the Tiny Dog Hotel offers a variety of services and even spa treatments. Every morning, Antoinette conducts a ‘reiki’ ceremony, a form of Japanese alternative medicine believed to soothe anxious dogs. Each dog has its own ‘suite’, equipped with a bed, toys, and a water bowl. The hotel also provides training and dog taxi services at no additional cost.

Daycare and Spa Packages

Dogs don’t have to stay overnight to enjoy the luxury services. Jose and Antoinette offer daycare packages and spa days for pampered pets. Initially, their clients were mostly expats living in Spain, but now, even locals have started using their services.

Recognition and Expansion

In 2016, the Tiny Dog Hotel was included in La Guia Luxury, a national luxury guide. Today, they employ three carers and a groomer. Antoinette shared that they started with mostly English clients, but now, even Spaniards see the importance of providing the best for their dogs. They even have clients coming from other areas of Andalucia, Murcia, or Gibraltar.
