Novak Djokovic Fined for Unauthorised Construction at Marbella Mansion
Former world tennis champion, Novak Djokovic, has been slapped with a fine by the Marbella town hall for carrying out unauthorised work at his mansion located in the Sierra Blanca residential estate. The Serbian national has been under scrutiny for a year with an open urban planning file against him.
Two Fines of 5,000 Euros Each for Djokovic
Sources reveal that Djokovic has been fined twice, each fine amounting to 5,000 euros. The tennis star has failed to provide the necessary documentation to resolve the case. As a result, he has been ordered to remove the basement parking space and has been penalised for constructing three floors, a porch, and a bathroom and shower. He has also been fined for not maintaining the minimum distance to property boundaries. After these two penalties, a maximum of twelve cumulative penalties are permitted.
Djokovic’s Marbella Residence: A Brief History
Djokovic, along with his wife Jelena Ristic and their two children, Stefan and Tara, have been residing in the house for a few weeks every year since its purchase in 2020. However, the family used the house for a longer duration during the Covid-19 lockdown as a pandemic confinement. During this period, Djokovic faced criticism for allegedly violating restrictions during a training session at the Piente Romano Tennis Club.
Inside Djokovic’s 10 Million Euro Villa
The villa, valued at over 10 million euros, boasts an exclusive 1,000-square-metre tennis court, nine bedrooms, eight bathrooms, an indoor swimming pool, multiple lounges, a cinema and TV room, a games room with a pool table and foosball, a spa with a sauna and Turkish bath, and a fully equipped gymnasium. The main rooms are adorned in a blend of Mediterranean and Moroccan style. The outdoor area features a large patio with a barbecue.
Location and Visitors of the Villa
Despite being just five minutes away from Marbella’s town centre, the house is situated in a discreet area, offering views of the sea and the mountains. The villa has been visited by local tennis players Alejandro Davidovich and Carlos Gómez Herrera. Pepe Imaz, a Riojan tennis player, and Djokovic’s brother, Marko, also reside in Marbella.
