Marbella Town Hall Announces Tender for 84 Subsidised Homes

Marbella Town Hall has announced a tender for the construction of 84 subsidised homes in the southern region of San Pedro Alcántara. This new contract increases the total number of publicly owned new builds planned for Marbella over the next three years to 700.

Addressing Housing Accessibility Issues

Marbella’s Mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, has acknowledged the difficulties many families face in securing housing. The new development is a significant step towards addressing these issues, offering both rental and purchase options.

Prime Location for New Housing

The new housing will be situated in a prime location, adjacent to the boulevard and various amenities, including a new pavilion and school. The location also boasts excellent connectivity to the A-7 motorway and is just a short distance from the beach.

Additional Developments Planned

In addition to the 84 homes, plans are also in place to develop 400 square metres of commercial premises and nearly 2,000 square metres of private parks and gardens.

Land Sale and Subsidies

The land for the new development has been priced at 2.8 million euros. The town hall will contribute 840,000 euros, providing a direct subsidy of 10,000 euros for each home to support successful bidders, as explained by Mayor Muñoz.

Features of the New Homes

Each of the new homes will come with a garage and storage space, with prices ranging between 175,000 and 240,000 euros. Four of the properties will be specially adapted for people with disabilities.

New Housing Unit and Register

The town hall has established a new housing unit responsible for the development of the 700 public properties planned over the next three years. This unit will also be tasked with updating and expanding the municipal register of housing applicants, a crucial tool for residents seeking access to these properties.

Registration and Eligibility

Mayor Muñoz has urged those interested in this type of housing to update their details on the register. She also stressed the importance of registration for eligibility and selection, which will take place after the completion of the building structure and certification. The registration is temporary for three years and must be renewed, otherwise, the applicant will be removed from the register.
