One Arrested in Connection to April 13th Guadalmina Shooting

One individual has been arrested in connection to the shooting that took place in Guadalmina on April 13th. The effectiveness of the National Police’s work in the municipality of Marbella is beyond doubt. Following the recent wave of shootings, with five occurring within two months, four have been resolved, leaving only one unsolved. So far, eleven arrests have been made in various operations.

Five Shootings in Marbella in Two Months

From February 10th on Yedras Street in Nueva Andalucía, to April 13th at a restaurant in Guadalmina, five shootings took place in Marbella within two months. Between the first and the last, there were three more on Juan Belmonte Street in Puerto Banús (March 11), on José Banús Avenue (March 16), and in the Los Naranjos urbanization in Nueva Andalucía (April 2). Four of these have been resolved by the National Police, resulting in eleven arrests. The only one remaining to be solved is the one from March 16th.

Review of Police Operations

Let’s review the police operations that have led to clarity about what happened and brought the culprits to justice.

Yedras Street Shooting (10-2-24)

On February 10th, an attempted murder of two Swedish citizens took place on Yedras Street in Nueva Andalucía, resulting in one gunshot victim, injured in the arm and leg. The two victims were walking on the street when they were approached by a man in a ski mask, who got out of a vehicle and opened fire on them. The police found nine shell casings and also seized the handgun used, hidden in a bushy area. The police attributed the incident to a war between rival clans and, after investigations, arrested three individuals, including the alleged shooter.

Juan Belmonte Street Shooting (11-3-24)

On March 11th, in the mid-morning, a shooting took place at a restaurant located on Juan Belmonte Street in Puerto Banús. The suspects used a motorcycle, and one of them, after getting off the vehicle, fired at least 15 shots at the restaurant’s glass front, without hitting anyone. The police managed to arrest the two individuals, linked to organized crime.

Los Naranjos Urbanization Shooting (2-4-24)

At around 00:15 hours on April 2nd, another shooting took place on Almogía Street in the Los Naranjos urbanization in Nueva Andalucía. Three men, dressed in bright-colored clothes, approached another young man, leading to a struggle over a backpack in a dispute that would later be linked to an attempted drug ‘flip’ (theft of drugs). The 21-year-old victim was shot twice, in the knee and pelvis, and was taken to a hospital. After investigations, the police managed to arrest three people, including the alleged shooter.

Guadalmina Shooting (13-4-24)

A shooting at a commercial center in Guadalmina, San Pedro Alcántara, around 21:00 hours, resulted in a 33-year-old Albanian man being shot. He was hit by ten bullets, mostly in the lower limbs, by another man who opened fire on him in a settling of scores. The immediate assistance of an off-duty doctor, who happened to be in the restaurant, saved his life by applying a tourniquet, as he had a partial rupture of the femoral artery. The police managed to arrest three people: the alleged shooter, the one who facilitated his escape, and the one who arranged the meeting with the victim at the restaurant.
