Emergency Evacuation Activated in Campanillas River Area and Marbella
In the wake of an emergency evacuation plan triggered in the Campanillas river area on Monday evening, a subsequent relocation operation was carried out in Marbella. The overflow of the Guadaiza river led to the evacuation of residents from eight homes in the Cortijo Blanco neighbourhood.
Storm Laurence Causes Flooding in Malaga Province
Storm Laurence has been responsible for depositing nearly 100mm of rain, resulting in flooding in various regions of the Malaga province. The water level on the streets escalated to 40 centimetres due to the relentless downpours.
Heavy Rainfall Leads to Release of Water from Dams
The persistent rainfall was not limited to the lowlands but also affected the mountainous regions and the Benahavís area. This led to the release of water from the Guadalmansa, Guadalmina and Guadaiza dams.
Floods Result in Significant Damage
The aftermath of the floods has left a trail of destruction, damaging vehicles, urban infrastructure, and residential properties. The bridge connecting the two banks of the Guadaiza river has also suffered damage.
Storm Laurence Disrupts Traffic in Ojén
In addition to the flooding, Storm Laurence has also caused a disruption in Ojén. A tree was uprooted due to the storm and fell, blocking traffic in the area.
