Marbella Hosts Exciting Regatta Over the Weekend

Marbella was the host of a thrilling regatta this past weekend. The provincial trial of the Optimist Sailing class took place, with participants from both Malaga and Campo de Gibraltar. The Levante wind played a crucial role in allowing all the scheduled races to take place in Marbella. In the medal tally, Raúl Gutiérrez managed to secure bronze in the under-13 category.

Provincial Trial of Optimist Sailing Class

The provincial trial of the Optimist Sailing class was held in Marbella last weekend. The event saw participation from boats from the Malaga and Campo de Gibraltar regions. This was a qualifying trial for the Andalusian Cups and Championships for the under-16 classes, organized by the Royal Nautical Club of Marbella and the Andalusian Sailing Federation.

Participation from Various Clubs

The trial, sponsored by construction company Prinza, brought together nearly 50 sailors from various clubs including the Royal Club el Candado, Royal Mediterranean Club, Marbella Maritime Nautical Club, Fuengirola Sea Club, and the Royal Nautical Club of La Línea. The event was eagerly anticipated due to the few races held in the first two trials of the circuit.

Impressive Performances

On Saturday, Felipe Pachón from CNM Benalmádena dominated the races with a clean sweep of victories. In the under-13 category, José de Linares from the Royal Club el Candado won the second and third races. However, a false start set him back in the overall standings, which were led by his teammate Jacobo Moreno.

Female Competitors Shine

In the under-16 female category, Blanca López from CNM Benalmádena started strong, beating her rivals in two of the three races. Her teammate, Blanca Marrales, won the third race of the day. In the under-13 category, Daria Arlova from CNM Benalmádena outperformed her peers with three victories.

Final Day of Competition

On the final day of competition, Felipe Pachón continued his unbeaten run, while an interesting battle ensued between the two Blancas from Benalmádena. In the under-16 male category, Carlete Gómez from CNM Benalmádena broke Pachón’s unbeaten streak by winning the first of the three races held, securing second place overall.

Victorious Sailors

In the under-16 female category, Blanca López sped ahead with three victories over her rivals to claim the final victory in the category. In the under-13 male category, José de Linares from the Royal Club el Candado won all three races to claim victory, followed by his teammate Jacobo Moreno and local sailor Raúl Gutiérrez. In the under-13 female category, the victory went to Daria Arlova from CNM Benalmádena.

Young Sailors Make Their Mark

In the under-11 male category, the victory went to Martín Aguilar, who also secured the fourth place in the under-13 category for CNM Benalmádena. In the female category, Marina del Rio claimed victory for the same club.
