Maxwill Wrestling Club Champion, Mekhronna Abdulkhayrova, Shines at Spanish Championship
Mekhronna Abdulkhayrova, the champion of the Maxwill Wrestling Club, has recently participated in the Spanish Olympic Wrestling Championship for ages 13, 15, 17, and 23. The club managed to secure a total of 12 medals in various categories.
Three Gold Medals for Maxwill Club at Spanish Championship
Among all the medals won, the three golds achieved by Mekhronna Abdulkhayrova, Artem Eshchenko, and Yevgenii Pinti stand out. The championship took place in Leon, with categories U13, U15, U17, and U23 participating. The local sports palace was buzzing with nearly 800 participants from all over the country.
Great Weekend of Wrestling Matches in Leon
The atmosphere in the stands was electric, with families and wrestling fans not wanting to miss an event that crowned 120 champions in various categories and weights. For the first time, the championship was open to U13 wrestlers. The younger ones offered very entertaining fights on Saturday, which they themselves opened. The older ones topped off the event on Sunday morning.
Maxwill Wrestling Club’s Strong Representation at the Championship
The Maxwill Wrestling Club from Marbella attended the event with a broad representation that was able to secure a total of 12 medals in various categories. Among the most notable medals won by the Marbella club were the golds of Mekhronna Abdulkhayrova, Artem Eshchenko, and Yevgenii Pinti.
Other Medal Winners from Maxwill Club
In addition, Anastasia Guseva Macharashvili, Artem Borodachev, Alexey Ivankov, and Ivan Ostanin won silver medals; while Alexander Trakhtman, Oscar Rajamaki, Alexander Kopachev, Alexander Ovanesov, and Daniil Timonkin added bronze medals to the club’s tally.
Spanish Team Selection for International Tournament
Besides the titles won in Leon, Yevgenii Pinti, Alexey Ivankov, Artem Borodachev, and Anastasia Guseva have been selected to be part of the Spanish team that will participate in the international tournament of the World Wrestling Federation at the end of April 2024.
Tribute to Jorge Iglesias Oricheta
The event also served to pay tribute to Jorge Iglesias Oricheta, a local athlete passionate about Olympic wrestling and the traditional ‘aluche’ from Leon, who passed away suddenly last September at just 20 years of age. A respectful minute of silence was observed in his memory with his parents, Yolanda and Carlos, present.
Upcoming National Championships in Madrid
The next national championships will be held in Tres Cantos, in the Community of Madrid. The event will take place this weekend, March 23 and 24, in the categories of Olympic Wrestling U20, Sambo (all categories), and Combat Sambo senior.
