A Marbella-based company, Immucura Med SL, is currently under scrutiny for allegedly defrauding patients through a cancer therapy scam. The public prosecutor’s office in Marbella confirmed on 26 June that an investigation was underway, following allegations of fraud and crimes against public health related to the company’s innovative cancer therapies.

Details Unveiled by El País

The Spanish newspaper El País reported on Tuesday 8 October, the details of the alleged scam. The report was the result of an extensive investigation by a team of international journalists, including representatives from El País. The journalists spent several months investigating the company and its operations.

CEO’s Controversial Background

The founder and CEO of Immucura Med SL, a former investment banker with ties to the Cayman Islands and the Russian government, is at the center of the controversy. The company, under his leadership, has allegedly been offering dendritic cell treatment to hundreds of patients, most of whom are in critical stages of their cancer.

Company’s Operations Across Europe

Immucura Med SL has allegedly been offering this treatment in several European countries for nearly a decade, generating millions of euros in revenue, according to El País. The Junta de Andalucía confirmed to Europa Press that the company had previously been sanctioned and that an investigation was ongoing.

Illegal Use of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products

The administration first received a complaint against Immucura Med SL for the illegal use of advanced therapy medicinal products. The Spanish agency for medicines and health products (Aemps) issued a warning that the company was offering a cancer treatment with dendritic cells, which is considered an illegal advanced therapy medicinal product.

Previous Complaints and Sanctions
