Five Guys Expands its Footprint on the Costa del Sol
Five Guys, the burger chain highly esteemed by former US President Barack Obama, is set to expand its presence on the Costa del Sol. The American company is preparing to open its first restaurant in Marbella this April, specifically in Puerto Banús. The new outlet will be situated at Avenida Julio Iglesias 22, adding to the existing outlet in Malaga city.
Details of the New Restaurant
The new restaurant will be housed in a 330-square-metre site, featuring a 125-square-metre terrace with a view of the promenade. The opening of this new location will initially create 45 jobs, with plans to add an additional 20 in the future. The restaurant will have the capacity to accommodate over 100 diners at a time.
Five Guys’ Expansion Plans in Malaga
Daniel Agromayor, Director of Five Guys in Spain and Portugal, expressed confidence that the Marbella restaurant, set to open its doors on Monday 22 April, will not be the last in the Malaga province. The company is actively seeking a location in the centre of Malaga city and is open to opportunities in other nearby locations.
Five Guys’ Success in Malaga
Five Guys currently operates another restaurant in Malaga city, which opened in August 2021 inside the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet shopping centre, next to Plaza Mayor. The positive response from the Malaga public has spurred the company to open a second outlet in Marbella.
Challenges and Expectations for the New Restaurant
Despite the new restaurant not yet being open, Agromayor noted a high level of anticipation in the area, particularly from those already familiar with the brand. One of the main challenges will be introducing the brand to those unfamiliar with it, as Marbella represents a new market for the chain.
Unique Features of Five Guys
Five Guys stands out from other burger restaurants by offering customizable burgers and an open kitchen where customers can watch their meals being prepared. The company prides itself on using only fresh, top-quality, unfrozen products. With up to 15 toppings available for their burgers and hot dogs, customers can create up to 250,000 different combinations.
Five Guys’ Expansion in Spain
Founded in Arlington, Virginia, in 1986 by the Murrell family, Five Guys is currently expanding throughout Spain. Since opening its first restaurant on Madrid’s Gran Vía in October 2016, the company has opened numerous burger restaurants and has another ten in the pipeline. The company currently employs more than 1,200 people.
