Miguel Poveda, a Regular at Starlite, to Appear at Marpoética

Miguel Poveda, a frequent performer at Starlite, will also be appearing at Marpoética. The seventh edition of the Marpoética Festival will kick off on Thursday, April 11, with the project ‘Levantando el verso’, involving all kindergarten and primary school students in the city. The festival will also feature a very special guest: flamenco singer Miguel Poveda. The two-week event will be packed with activities in various formats and locations throughout the city.

Marpoética: A Spring Tradition in Marbella

As explained by Carmen Díaz, the Director General of Culture in Marbella, “Marpoética has become a spring tradition in our city”. The event transcends the poem itself, as the essential word of the poem contains music, images, and thought. Over the course of two weeks, Marbella will host a wide range of authors, including poet Antonio Gamoneda, singer Miguel Poveda, musician Santiago Auserón, poet and novelist Joaquín Pérez Azaústre, and poet Alberto Conejero.

Marpoética Festival: A Celebration of Poetry and Music

The festival will feature a series of special activities starting on April 11 with a conversation between Poveda and poet and playwright Alberto Conejero at the municipal theater at 8:00 p.m. Poveda is a key figure in contemporary flamenco and has maintained a strong connection with poetry as a source of inspiration throughout his career. His presence in Marbella will provide an opportunity to reflect on these links between flamenco and poetry that have been a constant in his career.

Marpoética Festival: A Showcase of Literary and Musical Talent

Following the inaugural event, the festival will kick off its first weekend with the ‘Poesía en Pie’ series, coordinated by Alberto Conejero, and returning after last year’s success. It includes three theatrical proposals: ‘La melancolía del turista’, ‘Me & Magdalena’, and ‘Mi gran obra’. From Wednesday, April 17, the format of the Poetic Dialogues will return. The first of these will take place at the Hospital Real de la Misericordia under the title ‘What is a poem for?’.

Marpoética Festival: A Platform for Dialogue and Performance

The festival will also feature other special afternoon sessions of high interest. One of these will be led by novelist and poet Joaquín Pérez Azaústre, who will present his most recent novel, ‘El querido hermano’. The festival will conclude on April 25 with the presence of Cervantes Prize winner Antonio Gamoneda, who will discuss his career and his conception of poetry with journalist and poet Antonio Lucas.

Marpoética Festival: A Celebration of Poetry in the City

In addition to this classic section of Marpoética, the festival will feature other parallel sections such as ‘Poesía del Mar’, a cycle dedicated to new authors that has become a reference throughout Spain. The festival also includes a comprehensive educational program, which includes activities for kindergarten, primary, and secondary school students. There will also be poetic pairings, which combine literature and gastronomy, and projects like ‘Faenando Versos’ that bring poetry to places like the port. The festival will also serve to present projects like ‘Pictura Fulgens’, which combines poetry and art, and stage activities like the show titled ‘Las rarezas del pulpo’.
