Marbella’s Weekly Council Meeting: New Job Opportunities Announced
The weekly council meeting of Marbella took place at the city’s Palacio de Congresos on Monday, 3rd February 2025. The meeting was presided over by Mayor Ángeles Muñoz. Following the meeting, Félix Romero, the town hall spokesperson, made a significant announcement regarding job vacancies in the city.
Job Vacancies in Local Police and Fire Brigade
Romero announced the availability of 19 vacancies in the Local Police and 10 in the fire brigade of the Costa del Sol municipality. The local government’s objective is to rejuvenate the workforce and provide administrative career opportunities for the personnel of both bodies.
Workforce Renewal and Growth
Romero emphasized the importance of establishing a growth rate and workforce renewal, in anticipation of upcoming retirements. He stated that maintaining security and safety in the municipality is a priority. A new plan has been put in place, which includes annual calls for new posts to maintain a consistent number of staff year after year.
Employment Strategy and Mobility Posts
The new employment strategy will also implement three horizontal mobility posts through a merit-based competition system for staff from other administrations. Romero stressed the importance of offering employees in vocations like the police force and fire brigades the opportunity for promotion and professional growth.
Reserved Positions for Military Personnel
A new feature in the job offers for the city’s Local Police is the reservation of one post for professional military personnel. This model, which has been successful in the National Police, will now be adopted by Marbella town hall. The aim is to enhance the workforce with individuals who have specific training in the armed forces.
Collaboration with Fundación Cibervoluntarios
In addition to the job announcements, the town hall also announced the approval of a collaboration agreement with the Fundación Cibervoluntarios. The aim of this collaboration is to promote digital literacy among citizens, particularly the most vulnerable groups, through free talks and courses. The initiative seeks to reduce the digital divide, encourage ethical and social use of technology, and promote digital transformation.
