Infographics Placed in the Southern Zone of Marbella’s Old Stadium
One of the infographics has been placed in the southern zone of the old Marbella stadium. Despite the lack of progress in the construction of the new Marbella stadium, the government team made another propagandistic move this morning by placing infographics on the fences surrounding the old facility. These do not belong to the final project, which has not yet been presented, but they are attracting a lot of attention.
Demolition of the Old Lorenzo Cuevas Stadium
On February 15, the Mayor of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz, when asked about it, stated that the demolition of the old Lorenzo Cuevas was “imminent”. More than a month has passed and the only activity at the facilities took place this morning when infographics were placed to decorate the fences surrounding the stadium.
Infographics Generate Interest
These are recreations, along with the phrase “new municipal stadium of Marbella”, in the southern zone, opposite the school, and they have raised expectations. However, they are not from the final project, which has not yet been presented, but correspond to the work done for the ideas competition almost two years ago. This has been confirmed by municipal sources after the consultation made by Marbella24hours. In any case, they have had a propagandistic effect as they are generating interest and attracting attention.
Closure and Future Plans for Lorenzo Cuevas Municipal Stadium
The Lorenzo Cuevas municipal stadium was closed at the end of May 2021 and in July 2022 the result of the ideas competition to build a new one was presented. Almost two years have passed and the project commissioned to Huete Architects has not yet been presented. On July 14, 2022, the mayor said that the demolition of the old stadium would be carried out from September 2023, something that did not happen. At the end of March 2023, the lighting towers were removed and in October of that year, a clearing was made. In December, the supports for the fences began to be placed, a process that lasted two months until the entire perimeter was closed.
