Man Arrested in San Pedro Alcántara for Alleged Arson
In a recent development, a man has been taken into custody in San Pedro Alcántara on suspicion of setting fire to four waste bins and a motorbike. The arrest was made possible through the collective efforts of the Local Police, who were guided by witness accounts. The suspect was found carrying two lighters, as confirmed by SUR.
Residents Alert Authorities to Unusual Smoke
The incident came to light around 8pm on 22nd April when residents of the Nueva Alcántara housing estate noticed thick black smoke emanating from the area. The initial alarm was raised by the residents, who reported that two waste bins were entirely engulfed in flames. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Fire Spreads to Other Containers and a Parked Motorbike
The fire, initially confined to two waste bins, soon spread to two other nearby containers and a parked motorbike. Firefighters were called to the scene and were successful in putting out the blaze.
Police Launch Search for Suspect
Following the incident, the police initiated a search operation in the area. Witnesses provided a description of the suspect and the direction in which he was seen fleeing, aiding the police in their search. The suspect, who reportedly has a history of similar incidents, was soon spotted by the police.
