British Man Held Hostage in San Pedro Alcántara Escapes Captors
On 1st February 2025, a British man was held captive for seven hours in San Pedro Alcántara. The man attempted to escape his captors by climbing over a balcony, taking advantage of a momentary lapse in their attention. Unfortunately, he fell from the building’s façade during his escape attempt.
National Police Respond Swiftly to Hostage Situation
The National Police had already surrounded the building and were able to provide immediate assistance to the victim. The kidnappers, who attempted to flee the scene quickly, were apprehended on the spot. The police operation had commenced earlier that day, following a tip-off about a man being kidnapped in a town in the province of Malaga the previous evening.
Discreet Surveillance Operation Leads to Successful Rescue
Upon receiving information about the potential danger to the man’s life, the investigators swiftly located the house where he was being held. A discreet surveillance operation was set up to determine the optimal time to storm the property. The officers observed several men frequently stepping out onto the balcony to make phone calls.
Victim’s Escape Attempt and Immediate Police Assistance
At one point, the officers spotted another man, later identified as the victim, rushing to the balcony and attempting to climb down the façade, only to fall to the ground. The officers immediately rushed to his aid and transported him to the hospital.
Arrest of Kidnappers and Discovery of Illegal Items
Meanwhile, part of the operation, which included the special operations group (GOES) of the National Police, remained at the scene. They arrested three men who tried to flee in a luxury car. A search of the house revealed two firearms, nearly 10,000 euros in cash, a banknote counting machine, three knives (including a butterfly knife), two high-end watches, a luxury vehicle, 25 grams of pink cocaine individually packaged, and a digital precision scale.
Suspects Charged with Multiple Offences
The suspects were arrested on charges of kidnapping, causing serious injury, being part of a criminal organisation, illegal possession of weapons, and drug trafficking. They have all been remanded in custody under the judicial court.
