Four Years On: The Unsolved Disappearance of Dutch National Jamal
It’s been four years since Jamal, a Dutch citizen, vanished without a trace in Marbella. The alleged kidnapping by individuals posing as police officers in 2020 has left many unanswered questions. Despite the passage of time, the case seems far from reaching the courtroom. The public prosecutor’s office has yet to press charges, possibly due to the ambiguity surrounding the circumstances of the incident.
Prosecutor’s Office Requests More Detailed Investigation
The representative of the public prosecutor’s office, in a brief three-line letter to the police, requested a more detailed account of the abduction. The letter, dated 28 August this year, called for a clearer explanation of the abduction, which occurred on the night of 22 August 2020. Despite the extensive police work documented in the case file, there are still gaps that need to be filled before the prosecution can present its case.
The Night of the Abduction: What We Know
On the night of the incident, Jamal, then 31, was dining with his wife at a restaurant in Puerto Banús while on vacation with his family. They had rented a luxury apartment in the Nueva Andalucía area where their five children were staying. The couple was returning home in a conspicuous Mercedes-AMG G-Class, modified by German company Mansory, when they were intercepted by two cars with hazard lights on.
Impersonators or Police: The Confusion Unfolds
Eight individuals, dressed as police officers and wearing masks, emerged from the two cars. Given that it was the first summer of the pandemic, masks were a common sight. Jamal lowered his window and was reportedly struck on the head with a pistol butt.
Security Footage Reveals Chilling Details
Investigators have scrutinized all security footage from Puerto Banús to the couple’s vacation home. Udyco specialists believe that an Audi RS6 was tailing Jamal both within and outside the port. Once they left Puerto Banús, the Audi RS6 sped off, and two other vehicles – a black Audi A3 and a white Peugeot 308 – began to chase the Mercedes carrying Jamal and his wife. The victim’s erratic driving, captured on camera, suggests he was aware of the pursuit and was attempting to evade his pursuers.
