Good Friday Procession Cancelled in Marbella Due to Rain Forecast
The meeting between the Lying Christ and the Virgin of Solitude will not take place this Good Friday. The procession through the streets of Marbella has been cancelled due to the forecast of rain. The decision to cancel the two scheduled departures was made a day in advance. The joint parade of the Lying Christ and the Virgin of Solitude, a yearly tradition, will not take place this year.
Indoor Event to Replace Procession
Both brotherhoods have decided to hold an event inside the Church of the Incarnation instead. There will be no processional parade this Good Friday in Marbella. The two brotherhoods that organize the joint procession decided a day earlier to cancel their departures due to the rain forecast. After a meeting of both brotherhoods, a public statement was released announcing the decision they had made.
Decision Made with Responsibility and Safety in Mind
“With the utmost responsibility and after studying the weather forecasts, it was decided to suspend the Good Friday processional departure,” they pointed out. “The care of material, artistic and human heritage, and of course, the safety of citizens, make us take this determination,” they added.
Indoor Event at the Church of the Incarnation
Therefore, an indoor event at the Church of the Incarnation has been chosen to take place from 9:30 pm. “We will prepare a beautiful scene inside so that all devotees can visit and pray before the Titles,” they announced.
Procession Was Scheduled to Start at 9:00 pm
The procession was scheduled to start at 9:00 pm from the Brotherhood House of the Holy Sepulcher and at 9:30 pm, the Solitude from the Incarnation was to join. It was a day that included the spectacle of the Legion’s picket arrived from Ronda and that gathered a lot of public.
