Marbella’s 8th International Music Festival: A Celebration of Classical Music and Young Talent

Carmen Díaz, the General Director of Culture, has announced the upcoming 8th International Music Festival in Marbella. The festival, which will take place from September 1st to 9th, will feature a series of classical concerts, masterclasses, and a new edition of the traditional competition for young talents. Performers such as Michael Davidov, Cónic Quartet, and the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra will be the stars of the event. Díaz emphasized that the festival continues to gain international recognition and aims to promote this important genre among the public.

Attracting Performers from Different Countries

Díaz also highlighted the festival’s goal to attract performers from different countries who are in training, to further improve their knowledge and participate in the competition. The festival will kick off on September 1st at 9.00 am with the Marbella International Music Competition 2023, which will run until September 3rd, the day of the final, and will take place at the Engraving Museum.

International Jury and Prizes

Díaz pointed out that the jury will consist of teachers from international conservatories and reminded that the deliberations are open to the public and participants. Three prizes of 6,000, 2,000, and 1,000 euros will be awarded to the first, second, and third place winners, respectively.

Classical Concerts Cycle Marbella 2023

On September 3rd, at the José Pernía Calderón Auditorium at 9.00 pm, the Classical Concerts Cycle Marbella 2023 will begin with a performance featuring the winners of the competition held in the previous days. The following performances will include Korean pianist Minsung Lee at the Buchinger Clinic on September 4th, Korean performer Hanna Jang on September 5th, and Hungarian artist Jànos Balázs on September 6th, both at the José Pernía Calderón Auditorium.

Gala Concert and Closing Ceremony

On September 7th, a gala concert will be held by the participants of the international masterclass at the Ralli Museum. The last two performances will also take place at the José Pernía Calderón Auditorium. The first, by Michael Davidov and Cònic Quartet, will perform George Gershwin’s ‘Rhapsody in blue’ on September 8th. On September 9th, the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra will close the festival with pieces by Ludwig van Beethoven and Piotr Ilich Tchaikovsky.
