Paleoanthropologist José María Bermúdez de Castro to Participate in Marbella’s ‘Marcientífica’
José María Bermúdez de Castro, a renowned paleoanthropologist and co-director of the Atapuerca archaeological site in Burgos, will be one of the participants in the second edition of ‘Marcientífica’. This informative event will take place in Marbella from November 14 to 24. The event will once again be led by researcher and writer Carlos Briones.
Marbella’s General Director of Culture Highlights the Event’s Objective
Carmen Díaz, the General Director of Culture in Marbella, pointed out that the main goal of the event is to inform the general public and students about the advancements in scientific research in a comprehensible and enjoyable way to better understand the world around us. She mentioned that Carlos Briones, a researcher at the CSIC in the Center for Astrobiology and a writer, will continue to coordinate the event.
Second Edition of ‘Marcientífica’ to Kick Off with a Talk on Food Realities and Myths
The second edition of ‘Marcientífica’ will commence on November 14 at 12:00 PM at the Teatro Ciudad de Marbella with a talk for the city’s students about the realities and myths of nutrition by pharmacist Gemma del Caño. Later that day, at 7:00 PM at the Hospital Real de la Misericordia, she will deliver a lecture titled ‘We don’t eat like before, but what do we eat now?’.
Program to Resume with a Reflection on the Milestones of Human Evolution
The program will resume on November 22 at 7:00 PM at the Hospital Real de la Misericordia with biologist José María Bermúdez de Castro, who will reflect on the milestones of human evolution. Bermúdez de Castro, one of the co-directors of the excavations at Atapuerca in Burgos, is a recipient of the Prince of Asturias Award for Scientific and Technical Research.
Carlos Briones to Analyze the Relationship Between Genetics and Cinema
The cycle will continue on November 23 at 12:00 PM at the Teatro Ciudad de Marbella with another proposal for students in which Carlos Briones will analyze the relationship between genetics and cinema. Later that day, at 7:00 PM, innovation and digital transformation expert Ruth Falquina will deliver a lecture titled ‘Artificial Intelligence: Augmented Creativity Has Arrived’.
‘Marcientífica’ to Conclude with a Concert-Recital Merging Science, Art, and Humanities
The event will conclude on Friday, November 24, at 8:00 PM at the municipal theater with the concert-recital ‘Astros, Notes, and Verses’ in which the duo Flautopía and the event coordinator will merge science, art, and humanities, following the spirit of the so-called ‘third culture’.
