Comedy of Errors to Arrive in Marbella with Pepón Nieto
The Comedy of Errors, featuring Marbella-born actor Pepón Nieto, will be one of the highlights of the first half of the year’s programming at the Teatro Ciudad de Marbella. The play, based on a Shakespearean work, is part of a diverse lineup of around twenty proposals, not limited to theatre alone.
Marbella’s Theatrical Programming Unveiled
Carmen Díaz, the General Director of Culture, unveiled the theatrical programming in Marbella running up to the summer. She emphasized that the plays are backed by prestigious companies and directors or innovative productions. The programming will include theatre, dance, and music, aimed at a diverse audience, along with a free educational theatre cycle in collaboration with educational centers, offering five options.
Programming for Adults and Families
As is traditional, there will be offerings for adult audiences (at 8:00 PM) and family audiences (at 6:00 PM), with the aim of encouraging children to develop an interest in the performing arts from an early age. Pepón Nieto, one of the actors in “The Comedy of Errors”, will be seen on February 2nd when the programming kicks off.
Shakespeare, Moliere, and Lope de Vega on Stage
The programming will begin on February 2nd with ‘The Comedy of Errors’, featuring Pepón Nieto among the cast. Directed by National Theatre Award winner Andrés Lima, the play is based on a Shakespearean work. Other notable proposals include ‘The Dog in the Manger’ by Lope de Vega on May 3rd, performed by Paco Mir’s company, and ‘The Miser’ by Moliere on May 25th, a masterpiece by the French playwright presented by the Andalusian company Atalaya.
World Theatre Day and Contemporary Theatre
On World Theatre Day (March 22nd), ‘Tennessee’, a production of the Spanish Theatre, will be performed. Carmen Díaz also mentioned a daring but significant contemporary theatre proposal, ‘The Audience’ by Federico García Lorca, performed by the Classic Theatre of Seville.
Music and Dance in the Programming
In the realm of music, the programming will feature ‘Remembering Marchena’ (February 10th) with singer Sandra Carrasco, accompanied by guitarist David Arahal. Also, the group Patax (May 4th) and the show ‘Nocturna’ (April 28th) with dancer and choreographer Rafaela Carrasco. The Dance Festival will be held in the fall this year due to a packed spring schedule.
Family Theatre
