Marbella Town Hall Initiates New Pruning Plan
Marbella’s local government has initiated a fresh pruning scheme that will impact approximately 17,000 trees and palm trees across the town this year. The plan is already in motion in the Sagrado Corazón neighbourhood, as confirmed by Mayor Ángeles Muñoz during her visit.
Mayor Muñoz Highlights Council’s Commitment
Mayor Muñoz emphasized the council’s dedication to preserving the town’s significant tree population through the implementation of various treatments and conservation efforts. The plan, she explained, adheres to the guidelines set by the European Union and the town hall’s parks and gardens department. The department designs a program tailored to the needs of each tree species.
Public Safety and Tree Population Considered in the Plan
The mayor further stated that the plan takes into account the safety of the public. She revealed that the town is home to over 71,000 trees, including 16,000 palm trees. However, she clarified that not all trees require annual pruning.
Details of the Pruning Plan
The Marbella’s Annual Tree Pruning plan is executed by three teams, each consisting of nine workers. The teams are equipped with an 18-metre and a 20-metre lifting arm, a 21-metre basket lorry, and two vehicles for plant debris collection.
Increased Budget for the Marbella’s Annual Tree Pruning
The entire project of Marbella’s Annual Tree Pruning is funded by a budget of 755,000 euros, marking a 20 per cent increase from the previous year’s budget.
