British and Irish Fugitives Arrested on Costa del Sol
In a recent development, two fugitives, one from Britain and the other from Ireland, have been apprehended on the Costa del Sol. The individuals, a 47-year-old Englishman known as P.M.C and a 43-year-old Irishman identified as D.K.M.C, were arrested in Fuengirola and Marbella respectively. The Spanish Guardia Civil confirmed the arrests to the Olive Press.
Details of the Arrests
The Irishman had been on the run from Irish authorities for several years due to his involvement in minor trafficking. He had been hiding in an apartment in Fuengirola and was arrested by officers as he was leaving the property. On the other hand, the British fugitive had an international arrest warrant issued against him for charges of tax fraud and money laundering. He is accused of defrauding the UK of more than £4.5 million and was suspected to be hiding in Spain after fleeing from Portugal. He was apprehended in the city of Marbella following an intense police search.
Current Status of the Fugitives
Both the fugitives are currently in custody as a judge has ordered their remand in prison. The arrests mark a significant achievement for the Spanish Guardia Civil and the international law enforcement community.
Previous Cases of Fugitives in Spain
Spain has been a hotspot for fugitives in the past. Recently, three wanted paedophiles were arrested in Spain after they fled the US and hid among expat communities. In another case, a fugitive wanted in France and Germany was found living in Sevilla. An Irish gangster, who is a fugitive, is set to return in July to face a drug trial on Spain’s Costa Blanca.
