Impressive Performance in Roma
The 18-year-old defender is shining in his loan to Roma, where he has already played eight matches this season, scoring two goals despite playing as a center-back. Dean Huijsen quickly made a name for himself due to his quality and his enormous technical and physical conditions for playing football.
Early Beginnings and Rapid Rise
Born in the Netherlands, Huijsen’s family moved to Marbella when he was five years old, where he began playing football for Costa Unida. His skills quickly caught attention and even at a young age, he was recruited by Málaga. His progression in Italy was meteoric, debuting with the first team at just 18 years old and now shining on loan at Roma, where he arrived at the express request of José Mourinho, and continues to shine under new coach Daniele De Rossi.
Interest from Top European Clubs
His breakthrough has been so notable in the Italian Serie A that there is already talk of interest from major European clubs, although Juventus has him well tied with a contract that links him to the Vecchia Signora until 2027. Dean Huijsen stands out for his quality with the ball, as well as being a player of great stature with good footwork, intelligence, and great prowess in aerial play.
Spanish Nationality and Future Prospects
The latest interesting move for his career has been the naturalization of the Marbella-born defender after receiving Spanish nationality by naturalization, which was published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) this Wednesday. The Royal Spanish Football Federation is very attentive and he could soon be called up to be part of the U-21 team, with his possible presence at the Paris Olympics also on the horizon. Although Huijsen has already played in the lower ranks of the Netherlands, he has expressed on several occasions his desire to play for Spain.
