Historic Replica of First Circumnavigating Ship to Dock in Marbella

A replica of the first ship to circumnavigate the globe, the Nao Victoria, is set to visit Marbella. The ship will be docked and open for public viewing at the city’s Bajadilla port from April 21 to 23. This visit is part of a global tour commemorating the 500th anniversary of the Magellan–Elcano expedition, the first to sail around the world.

The Original Nao Victoria’s Historic Journey

The original Nao Victoria, under the command of Juan Sebastian Elcano, embarked on its historic journey from Sevilla in 1519 and returned to the same city three years later, in 1522. During its stay in Marbella, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the ship and learn about the incredible adventures its sailors experienced half a millennium ago. They will also get insights into the experiences of the young crew that continues to sail around the world today.

Replica of Nao Victoria: A Testament to Historical Accuracy

The replica of the Nao Victoria was constructed in Spain in 1991. The builders spent months conducting historical research to ensure the replica preserved many details and aspects of the original carrack, which vanished while en route to Sevilla from the Antilles in 1570. The ship will be open to the public from 10am until 7.30pm each day.

Visiting the Nao Victoria: Ticket Information

Tickets to visit the Nao Victoria are priced at €6 for adults and €3 for children aged between five and 10 years old. A family ticket, which covers two adults and up to three children aged between five and 10 years old, is available for €15. Tickets can be booked online at www.fundacionnaovictoria.org.
