Maintenance progress across Marbella

Marbella’s drainage programme has passed 19,000 cleaned grates this year.

Marbella City Hall says permanent maintenance and cleaning of the municipal drainage network is continuing. More than 19,000 drainage grates have been cleaned so far this year, and more than 80 per cent of the planned work has been carried out.

The operation is coordinated through the municipal water and sewerage service with Hidralia. The network consists of 29,614 drainage grates and 927 kilometres of sewerage and rainwater pipes.

Work near schools and scheduled locations

School-area cleaning and further works form part of the municipal programme.

During the past August, crews cleaned the 556 drainage grates located near educational centres. Particular attention was given to Rafael Fernández-Mayoralas, Vicente Aleixandre and Valdeolletas schools.

The October and November programme includes La Represa, Puente Málaga, calle Algarrobo, Paseo Marítimo, plaza de los Naranjos, avenida José Manuel Vallés, bulevar Alfonso Hohenlohe, the avenues Severo Ochoa, Julio Iglesias and Oriental, and calle Fuente Nueva.

Preventive work has already been completed in lower Nueva Andalucía, Sierra Blanca and adjoining areas.

Weather preparations and reporting faults

Adverse weather forecasts trigger checks and standby arrangements before conditions worsen.

When adverse weather is forecast, standby teams are activated and drainage grates in higher-risk areas are checked during the 24 hours beforehand.

Hidralia’s free telephone line, 900 555 565, is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, for reporting faults or incidents involving the water and sewerage network.

Why this matters in Marbella

The programme covers infrastructure used across several parts of Marbella.

For residents, workers and visitors in Marbella, the update identifies where drainage maintenance has taken place and where further work is programmed. It also sets out how weather preparations and network fault reporting are handled.
