Marbella Town Hall and Developer Partner for El Ancón Development
In a significant move, Marbella town hall has joined forces with a developer to kickstart the development of the El Ancón area. The project, which is part of a larger plan to develop a beachfront residential area, is set to cost around 3.5 million euros.
Improving Quality of Life and Regenerating Space
José Eduardo Díaz, Marbella’s councillor for urban planning, has stated that the initiative will enable the execution of several actions aimed at enhancing the quality of life for both residents and visitors, and revitalising the area.
Key Interventions and Economic Boost
Díaz highlighted that the main planned interventions include road renovations, public facility adaptations, and drainage optimisation in the area. He emphasised the importance of such initiatives, stating that they stimulate the local economy and position Marbella as a standard-bearer for urban planning and excellence.
Private Sector Confidence and Citizen Impact
The councillor also noted that the private sector’s faith in the town is reflected in actions that add value and create a positive impact for citizens by improving degraded areas.
Project Details and Cultural Heritage
The project encompasses the enhancement of the area and the development of new infrastructure. Interestingly, the area is home to Torre Ancón, the only watchtower in the locality that has not yet been renovated. This Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC), which offers views of the Mediterranean Sea, is under the jurisdiction of Spain’s Ministry of Culture and Education. However, no plans have been made yet regarding the watchtower.
