Puente Romano Resort Aims to Become a Wine Connoisseur’s Paradise
The Puente Romano resort, a luxury hotel complex located in Marbella on the Costa del Sol, is setting its sights on becoming a premier destination for wine enthusiasts. The resort has recently established a centralized wine cellar, which now serves all the restaurants within the complex. This wine cellar houses over a thousand samples of the most coveted wines, including some rare collector’s items that are not available for purchase.
Three-Year Project Culminates in a Unique Wine Storage Facility
The wine cellar project, which began three years ago, has recently been completed. It includes a storage area where the most popular labels are being aged to perfection. The goal is to offer these wines to customers at their peak. Alejandro Marcos, the resort’s sommelier, is leading this initiative. He revealed that the cellar contains some “irreplaceable gems”, including their own collection of Vega Sicilia Único, top-notch products from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, a few samples from Pingus, and the latest magnum bottle of Don PX Convento Selección 1946, which boasts a perfect score of 100 Parker points.
Exclusive Access to a Wine Lover’s Dream
The new wine cellar is an exclusive space accessible only to hotel guests. Guests have the privilege of pre-selecting the specific wines they wish to enjoy during their stay at the resort. The cellar also features a space for group wine-tasting sessions. Marcos humorously referred to it as their “own little sweet shop”.
Expanding the Wine Cellar Stock for Optimal Enjoyment
Marcos explained that the plan is to continually expand the wine cellar stock each year. This will ensure that customers can always enjoy each wine at its peak. The increased storage capacity will also allow the resort to stock multiple vintages, catering to guests who may want a wine from a specific year to commemorate a special occasion such as a wedding anniversary. “We aspire to have one of the most complete wine cellars in Spain,” the sommelier stated confidently.
