Final Phase of Renovation for Iconic Hotel Los Monteros in Marbella
The iconic Hotel Los Monteros in Marbella is nearing the completion of its extension and improvement works. The town hall spokesman, Félix Romero, revealed on Tuesday 21 January that the Junta de Andalucía has given the green light for the building permit for the final part of this 7.6-million-euro project.
Investment in Marbella’s Hotel Industry
Romero emphasized the significance of the dynamic investment that the town’s large hotels have been making over the past year, enhancing the attractiveness of the destination. Other hotels that have recently undergone refurbishments include the Don Miguel or Andalucía Plaza, El Fuerte, San Cristóbal, Don Carlos and the Meliá Marbella Banús, among others.
Hotel Los Monteros: A Rich History
Hotel Los Monteros first opened its doors in 1962 and was among the first hotels in Spain to receive a five-star luxury hotel rating. It has welcomed stars of music and cinema, cultural and sports personalities, and even royalty. Notable guests include Michael Jackson and Julio Iglesias, Nobel Prize for Literature laureate Camilo José Cela, actors Sean Connery, Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith, and royalty such as Baron Von Thyssen and Queen Ingrid of Denmark.
Los Monteros: A Pioneer and Meeting Point
Los Monteros was a trailblazer in adopting the French custom of using the palette to serve fish and its restaurant El Corzo was the first in Marbella to earn a Michelin star. Over the years, it has also served as a meeting point for Marbella’s jet set, with its banquet rooms and gardens hosting large parties.
