Marbella Local Police to Boost Fleet with Seven New Vehicles

Marbella Local Police is set to enhance its fleet with the addition of seven new vehicles. The announcement was made by town mayor Ángeles Muñoz and councillor for security José Eduardo Díaz. The officials described the move as a demonstration of the municipality’s commitment to equipping the police force with top-notch resources.

Details of the New Additions to the Police Fleet

The new additions to the fleet include three patrol cars, a van, and three unmarked cars. The unmarked cars are intended to allow officers to blend in and carry out preventive work without attracting attention. The aim is to continue expanding and focusing on renewing the vehicle fleet, replacing personnel, and enhancing CCTV video surveillance cameras, according to Muñoz.

Marbella Town Hall’s Efforts to Fill Police Vacancies

Over the past five years, Marbella town hall has advertised 60 vacancies for new Local Police officers. Currently, there are 19 open positions for police officers. As officers retire, their positions are being filled, said Muñoz. The mayor emphasized that the police force is comprised of 400 officers, making it one of the largest in the area.

Success of Video Surveillance in Marbella

Muñoz also highlighted the effectiveness of the town’s gradual implementation of video surveillance. The system has proven to be a valuable tool not only for solving criminal cases but also for prevention and handling incidents such as the recent ‘Dana’ storm. During the storm, CCTV cameras were instrumental in monitoring various parts of the town, providing crucial information to emergency services for a swift and effective response. Plans are underway to install more cameras throughout the town.
