Marbella Town Hall Approves Three Significant Building Licences

Marbella Town Hall has kicked off the new year by approving three significant building licences. The first of these licences has been issued for the redevelopment of the Marbella Center shopping centre, situated on Avenida Ramón y Cajal. The shopping centre, which has been shut down for three decades, is set to undergo a transformation thanks to a 25-million-euro investment.

Revitalising the Marbella Center Shopping Centre

Mayor Ángeles Muñoz has stated that the investment will breathe new life into the area, with the shopping centre boasting a commercial use area of over 18,000 square metres. The initial licence, worth 2.5 million euros, will be used to refurbish the entire interior of the shopping centre. The Mayor emphasised the need to modernise the premises, which will be expanded from their original size. The revamped shopping centre will host top-tier companies, a supermarket, gym, restaurant operators, and a variety of leisure activities, including a bowling alley and a gaming area. The shopping centre is slated to reopen by the end of 2025, creating 150 new direct jobs and revitalising the entire area.

Samara Marbella to Transform Holiday Apartments into a Hotel

In addition to the shopping centre redevelopment, the town hall has also issued a building permit to Samara Marbella. This permit will allow the transformation of a building currently used as holiday apartments on Calle Ramón Gómez de la Serna into a hotel. The building, located next to the former urban planning department of the town hall, will undergo a major refurbishment thanks to an investment of 4.8 million euros. The new hotel will feature 70 rooms and is expected to be operational by 2026, creating more direct jobs than the existing tourist accommodation.

Construction of Social Housing in San Pedro

The third building permit granted by the town hall is for the construction of 84 social housing units in San Pedro Alcántara. The properties, which will be developed by the town hall and undertaken by the Vimpyca foundation, will have a budget of 8.3 million euros. The social housing project will consist of two buildings with a commercial area, garages, storage rooms, and a swimming pool. Mayor Muñoz concluded by stating that the private sector’s interest in continuing to invest is evident.
