Marbella Residents Rally Against Proposed Nightclub

In the Nagüeles district of Marbella, located on the Costa del Sol, hundreds of residents are protesting against the construction of a nightclub in the former Aresbank building. The opposition to this business venture has grown significantly, with approximately 1,500 people joining the demonstrations.

Residents Accuse Council of Ignoring Complaints

The local residents allege that the council has ignored the complaints submitted by five residential estates in the area, while maintaining a close relationship with the investment group known for its nightlife business in Marbella. The residents of the Marbellamar development claim that the council has assured them that the building’s use as a nightclub will be examined, with a focus on compliance with environmental regulations and potential disturbances to residents.

Protests Grow Amid Lack of Communication

However, since the council’s statement, there has been no further communication, leading to an increase in the number of protesters. The number of families in Marbella opposing the nightclub has risen from 1,000 to 1,500 within a week. The complaints initially lodged by residents of Marbellamar, Las Cañas, Casa Blanca, and La Carolina have now been joined by those from Marbella Real.

Residents Fear Disruption to Peaceful Area

Carmen Mateo, a local resident, expressed concerns that the peaceful and family-friendly nature of the area would be disrupted by the nightclub. Another resident, José María Tirado, highlighted the potential disturbance caused by the nightclub’s late operating hours and criticized the council for not considering the impact on the community.

Business Owners Insist It’s Not a Nightclub

In response to the protests, sources from the Mosh Group, co-owners of the business with chef Dani García, insist that the establishment is not a nightclub, but a fine dining restaurant with nightlife. They emphasized the potential benefits of the business, including the creation of 200 jobs and a 10-million-euro investment in the town.
