A man, aged 48, has been taken into custody on suspicion of fatally stabbing a 39-year-old man in Marbella. The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday night in a deserted building on Avenida Modesto Abril, a known refuge for the homeless, according to sources who spoke to SUR.
Emergency Services Alerted to Late-Night Fight
Around 11.10pm, emergency services received a call about a fight in progress at the building. The National Police responded promptly, discovering the victim, a German national, with multiple stab wounds. Despite their efforts, the man’s life could not be saved.
Suspect Apprehended Fleeing the Scene
The alleged assailant, of Arab descent, was apprehended while attempting to escape. Police officers found him near the scene of the crime. A knife, believed to be the murder weapon, was discovered a short distance away.
Investigation Underway as Suspect Awaits Trial
The suspect is currently in police custody, awaiting trial for murder. The National Police have launched an investigation to determine the motive and circumstances surrounding the incident. Second Crime in Less Than a Week on Costa del Sol
This marks the second crime in less than a week on the Costa del Sol that the National Police are working to solve. Last Sunday, the body of a 38-year-old Romanian man was discovered at a rural property in Estepona around 1pm.
Police Investigate Possible Robbery
The ongoing investigation is exploring the possibility that the incident may have been a robbery. The deceased was reportedly found among trash and alcohol bottles, having lost a significant amount of blood. Preliminary findings suggest that, in addition to a neck wound, he may have been assaulted with a blunt object, possibly a shovel.
