Atlético Marbella Paraíso Suffers Another Defeat Against CD Cártama

Atlético Marbella Paraíso once again fell to CD Cártama, ending the season in a painful manner without achieving their goal of promotion to the Honor Division. The Marbella team was affected by the early expulsion of goalkeeper Funez and despite taking the lead, they could not prevent a comeback from Cártama, leaving the sky-blue team without a promotion.

CD Cártama Blocks Atlético Marbella Paraíso’s Path to Promotion

Once again, CD Cártama stood in the way of the sky-blue team and for the second consecutive season, they prevented them from reaching the playoff final and thus, the dream of promotion. The sky-blue fans and youth team responded, and the Santa María de Las Chapas stadium was packed to support their team in this important match for the club.

Early Expulsion of Goalkeeper Funez Affects the Game

With a 2-1 lead from the first leg, Chechu Rodríguez’s team needed to win the match regardless of the score to be in the playoff final. However, the match took a turn for the worse for the home team with the expulsion of Sergio Fúnez for handling the ball outside his area, which conditioned the rest of the match and left the home team with one less player to turn around a score against a great rival.

Atlético Marbella Paraíso Fails to Maintain Lead

Despite the setback, Atlético Marbella Paraíso managed to take the lead in the 69th minute with a goal from Juli. However, a poor clearance from the Atlético Marbella Paraíso defense in the 80th minute led to a counterattack from the visitors, who equalized through Manu Portales. The home team had to push forward to seek a goal that would put them back in the final, but another counterattack from Cártama at the edge of regulation time ended any remaining chances for the home team.

Atlético Marbella Paraíso Ends Season Without Promotion

Atlético Marbella Paraíso thus ends the season without achieving the much-desired promotion to the Honor Division and will be in the First Andalusian of Malaga again next season.
