Janine Lima from Marbella Wins the Sherry Marathon
Janine Lima, a Marbella native and member of the Malaga Athletics Club, has achieved a significant victory in the seventh edition of the Sherry Marathon. The race took place this Sunday, with a route winding through the vineyards and wineries of the Marco de Jerez region. Lima dominated the women’s category, finishing with a time of 3 hours, 33 minutes, and 55 seconds. She also secured the 27th position overall.
Over 2,000 Runners Participate in the Sherry Marathon
More than 2,000 runners participated in the event, which offered three different race lengths and allowed participants to enjoy the paths that weave through the Jerez vineyards and delve into the facilities of the region’s main winemaking groups. The three races included a 14-kilometer race, a half marathon (21 kilometers), and a full marathon (42 kilometers).
Janine Lima Dominates the Women’s Category
Janine Lima Rodriguez from Marbella dominated the women’s category in the Sherry Marathon, setting her pace from the beginning to the end of the race. She finished with a time of 3 hours, 33 minutes, and 55 seconds, ahead of Dutch runner Evy Oosterveer (3 hours, 51 minutes, and 20 seconds) and Silvia Nuñez (3 hours, 56 minutes, and 31 seconds). In the overall standings, Lima, representing the Malaga Athletics Club, secured the 27th position among nearly 200 men and women who completed the race.
David Cepero Gomez Repeats Last Year’s Victory
The overall victory went to David Cepero Gomez, who repeated his victory from last year, finishing with a time of 2 hours, 44 minutes, and 42 seconds.

The Sherry Marathon is a unique race that mostly takes place on dirt paths through vineyards and also passes through the main wineries in Jerez.
