Marbella Rugby Club’s Under-16 A Team Season Ends
The season for the under-16 and under-18 teams of Marbella Rugby Club in the Autonomous Leagues has come to an end following the defeat of all three teams over the past weekend. The under-18 team, plagued by injuries, fell to Real Ciencias, while the under-16 A team was overcome by CAR. The under-16 B team lost to Academia Kubota Rugby Jaén. It was a forgettable day for the under-16 and under-18 teams of Marbella Rugby Club Academy.
Teams Fall Short of Title Fight in Autonomous Leagues
All three teams in these categories have been knocked out of the title fight in the Autonomous Leagues. The under-18 team visited Real Ciencias RC with the aim of securing their pass to the final. A strong first half allowed Marbella RC to take a 0-8 lead. However, some self-inflicted errors and injuries took a toll on the Marbella team, which was eventually overcome by Real Ciencias, who played the last 15 minutes with numerical superiority. The 37-8 scoreline did not do justice to Marbella RC’s good performance throughout the season.
Under-16 A Team Loses to Club Amigos del Rugby CAR
The under-16 A team visited Club Amigos del Rugby CAR in the semi-final of Group A of the Andalusian competition. It was a high-intensity match in which the Marbella team never gave up despite the opponent’s lead on the scoreboard. With three minutes left in the match, the Marbella team managed to close the gap (17-14) but unforced errors allowed the Seville team to extend their lead and secure a 27-14 victory.
Under-16 B Team Defeated by Academia Kubota Rugby Jaén
Finally, the under-16 B team travelled to Jaén to face Academia Kubota Rugby Jaén in the semi-final of Group C. After a challenging start to the season and a tough first phase, the Marbella team improved to qualify for the semi-finals of this competition. In the match, the Jaén team proved superior, securing a 17-8 victory and leaving the third Marbella team in the semi-finals, without a presence in the finals of the Autonomous Leagues.
